‘Tis the season to celebrate the holidays with the sound of tubas at the Merry TubaChristmas Monterey Bay concert! For the first time since 2019, this joyous event returns to the Monterey Bay area on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the beautiful Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Watsonville High School, 250 E. Beach St, Watsonville, CA 95076.
Dozens of tuba and baritone/euphonium players come from all over the Monterey Bay area to play Christmas carols—and a few Hanukkah songs—to the delight of all in attendance. It’s jolly holiday fun for the entire family!
Merry TubaChristmas Monterey Bay is presented in association with the Watsonville Community Band, which has offered local musicians the opportunity to play concert and marching band music since 1947.
Marking his first year as conductor/producer in the Monterey Bay area, Scott Wilkinson is a professional tubist and has produced and conducted the Merry TubaChristmas Los Angeles concert since 2011.
THE CONCERT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC, and the audience is encouraged to sing along, led by Scott's wife, singer/songwriter Joanna Cazden.
If we're lucky, Santa Claus himself will stop by to wish everyone a Merry TubaChristmas!
You might think the sound of dozens of tubas would be raucous, but it is actually quite glorious. So glorious, in fact, that Merry TubaChristmas is performed in over 200 cities across the nation and around the world.
All tuba and euphonium/baritone players are invited to play, regardless of experience and proficiency; students are especially welcome. For more information, please contact Scott Wilkinson at TubaChristmasMB@gmail.com.
